Key Legislative Priorities
During my time on the council, I have been fighting to lower your taxes, reopen our county and our schools, and make the county government work for you! Below is a sample of my legislative priorities, which reflect my approach to county government.
Expanding Property Rights
Bill 2-21: Allowing rehabilitative bird sanctuaries in the County as a conditional use
Passed unanimously
Reducing and Eliminating Taxes and Fees
Bill 105-20: Providing a real property tax credit for service-disabled veterans in the County
Passed Unanimously
Bill 51-20: Removing the unnecessary fee for public safety officers to apply for a real property tax credit
Passed Unanimously
Bill 25-21: Preventing future tax increases if there is ever a budget shortfall by raising the limit on the County's rainy day fund
Passed Unanimously and Co-Sponsored by All Six of My Colleagues After I Introduced It
Bill 15-21: Reducing the registration fee for short term rental properties by 75%
Passed Unanimously
Promoting Quality Infrastructure
Bill 21-21: Allowing recycling of trees into logs as an accessory use for tree contractors
Passed unanimously
Bill 60-211: Requiring the county to maximize the use of public-private partnerships when feasible to build our county's infrastructure in a fiscally responsible manner
Passed unanimously
Developed an efficient, streamlined system with a public-private partnership model for homes with failing septic systems to voluntarily convert to public sewer. This program will stop thousands of pounds of nitrogen from entering the bay and contaminating wells. Details can be found on the "our wAAter" website at Our wAAter (aacounty.org). Importantly, we developed this program without adding any new fees or taxes.
